[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I am proud to announce the launch of the Independent Media Institute’s Local Peace Economy project, which examines the crossroads of peace and economics.
As a working-class, mixed-race American, I have lived the alternative economics of surviving and thriving in a hyper-capitalist society. Today, and for the last several years, I am privileged to write about alternative economic systems, and how they can foster healthier, more peaceful communities. You can find my work on this subject here at IMI and its partner sites including AlterNet, as well as across the digital landscape, including at Bloomberg, as well as on my personal website, valerievandepanne.com. I am also a frequent contributor to In These Times.
The impact of this work is inspiring people to think differently about their relationships with money, power, politics, and their communities. From thought flows action, and this work is also influencing the choices people make, every day.
The Independent Media Institute is pleased to be educating the public through special projects like this one. Local Peace Economy has already produced a number of thought-provoking pieces. Here are a few to give you an idea of what the Local Peace Economy project is all about:[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text el_class=”mission serif-font”]
